Japanese Ghost Uses Instagram to Promote New Movie

The ghost from The Grudge has an Instagram account, and it’s equally terrifying and adorable.

The account was created to promote the new Japanese movie Sadako vs. Kayako.

According to The Verge:

“Kayako is the white-faced, wide-eyed antagonist of classic Japanese horror movie Ju-on(The Grudge), a malevolent spirit of a murdered woman who kills everyone who steps into her house.”

And, Sadako is the infamous ghost from The Ring.  In the film, Kayako goes head-to-head with Sadako.

The Verge explains this movie is:

“a semi-comedy horror that promises to pit two titans of J-horror against each other. In one corner, Sadako, the well-dwelling girl from The Ring; in the other Kayako, along with her black-eyed son Toshio. Kayako’s got numbers on her side, but Sadako’s the real horror OG, the lank-haired originator of the spooky ghost girl trend that still persists in Japanese — and western — horror movies to this day.”

Cosmopolitan said it best: the prospect of watching this movie sounds terrifying.

While the account was only created for promotional purposes for the upcoming movie, we are thoroughly enjoying these bizarre mother-son moments on Kayako’s Instagram.

And, she is clearly a very devoted mother to her equally-ghostly son Toshio.

The account shows the pair in various places like the park, inthe garden, and at the breakfast table.

Every picture is captioned with the same: “aaah…aaah…aaah”– the only thing dead Kayako can say in the film.

The account is kowakawaii– as The Verge explains– a neologism that combines the Japanese words for “scary” and “cute.”

Obamas start Twitter war with British royals

In the most adorable way, POTUS and FLOTUS started a fake Twitter feud with the British Royal Family. Their twitter fight, of course, is all in good fun!

The Obamas went to England earlier this month to hang out with the royal family, and apparently there was a bit of trash talking regarding the upcoming Invictus Games—  a sporting event for wounded, injured, and sick military personnel.

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama took to Twitter this morning to call out Prince Harry and his apparent challenge to “bring it” to the Games.

In an attempt to get more people involved with the event, FLOTUS sent out a tweet to the Royal Family ensuring that she and President Obama would be bringing their A-game to the Invictus Games.

The First Lady tweeted from her account to @KensingtonRoyal,the official twitter handle for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry:

“Hey, @KensingtonRoyal! Are you ready for @InvictusOrlando? Game on.”

This video accompanied the tweet:

Prince Harry quickly fired back!

He tweeted from the Kensington Palace twitter account:

And, just an hour after Prince Harry’s original response, the Queen herself joined in on the “fight.”

Again from the Kensington Palace twitter, Prince Harry tweeted:

“Unfortunately for you @FLOTUS and @POTUS I wasn’t alone when you sent me that video (winky face) -H.”

The tweet included this video:

In the video, Prince Harry is showing his grandmother, the Queen of England, a booklet about the Invictus Games.  He then receives a video message from Michelle Obama.  The Queen and the Prince watch the video of the First Lady’s and the President’s message about the Invictus Games together.

Following the video, Queen Elizabeth II replies most delicately and skeptically:

“Oh, really? Please.”

The competition is on!

According to Bustle:

“Prince Harry began hosting the Invictus Games in London in 2014 after he saw the power of sports in helping people who have been wounded in war, physically, socially, and psychologically. Since he was first introduced to the U.S. Warrior Games in 2013, Prince Harry has been dedicated to helping the cause. In an interview with WFTV9, an ABC affiliate in Orlando, Florida, Prince Harry talked about his inspiration for hosting the Invictus Games. “I saw sport take a hugely important part in the rehabilitation and the recovery process of all these individuals,” Prince Harry said during his interview.”

The 2016 Invictus Games begin May 8th in Orlando, Florida.

MTV is Reviving ‘Cribs’ for Snapchat!

Remember the old MTV? Music videos, Next, Pimp my Ride, TRL, and of course, Cribs.

Well, after leaving MTV programming in 2011, MTV’s Cribs is finally back! This time, however, the show will be airing via MTV’s Snapchat Discovery channel.

According to Variety, MTV launched its domestic Snapchat Discover channel in early February 2016 and the channel “features a wide range of content created exclusively for the platform and updated daily, including MTV News articles and video reports, exclusive celebrity interviews, highlights from MTV programming such as “Greatest Party Story Ever,” “Guy Code” and “Girl Code.”

Variety also wrote:

“MTV, eager to cultivate new youth audiences on screens other than those belonging to a TV set, said it would revive its popular series “Cribs” as a short-form program designed specifically for the instant-messaging app Snapchat.”

New episodes of the show are set to begin airing via MTV’s Snapchat Discovery channel sometime in June, and the shows will air once a week.

In this new version, artists and celebrities will be able to guide Snapchat users through their homes by speaking to the camera and providing fans with an intimate experience.  The first few episodes will feature rapper Mac Miller, singer Austin Mahone, and singer Travis Mills as the tour guides– all leaving behind the use of a traditional camera crew.

According to The Verge, “Cribs’ revival is just one part of a much larger MTV revitalization project that also includes a renewed focus on music programming and a revamped news department.”

The Verge also wrote:

“Cribs won’t be its first Snapchat series, either: Pants Off, an eight-episode series focusing on sex and relationships, is premiering on Snapchat on May 14th before making its way to other MTV platforms.”

The first Cribs show aired in September 2000. MTV Cribs was the ultimate insider’s look into the lives of the world’s most popular celebrities. By 2005, Cribs had featured tours of the homes of over 185 celebrities, musicians, actors, and athletes over the course of 13 seasons.

The most watched and replayed episode of Cribs was a special one-hour edition touring Mariah Carey’s New York penthouse.

Right now, it’s unclear exactly how long episodes are going to last. This platform is a little different from a traditional TV show, so we’re assuming that the episodes will be short and sweet.

We look forward to seeing who else decides to participate, and can’t wait to get a sneak peak into the lives of the rich and famous!

Kylie and Kendall Want You to Help Them Save the World

Kendall and Kylie Jenner– reality stars, entrepreneurs, and models— are participating in a new initiative with Apple and the World Wildlife Fund with their app Kendall and Kylie.

Apple and the World Wildlife Fund partnered to launch the “Apps for Earth” campaign on the iTunes App Store. From now until April 24, 100 percent of the proceeds from participating applications and in-app purchases will be donated to WWF’s global conservation work.

27 iPhone apps are participating in the “Apps for Earth” initiative.  Apps like Candy Crush Soda SagaCooking DashRecolor, and Kendall and Kylie’s game will feature exclusive content created to raise awareness on “the core areas of WWF’s global efforts.”

The apps will focus on issues such as the conservation of forests, oceans, fresh water and wildlife, food and climate change.

In the Kylie and Kendall game, there is a focus on water conservation and saving the oceans, specifically places like the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. In the game, you can play new challenges and utilize “water droplets” to gain eco-conscious clothing and accessories.

The lifestyle simulation game has also been updated with new WWF events, allowing players to show their support by taking a selfie of their character to post to social media.

Kendall explained in a statement to Cosmopolitan:

“It feels great to know that we’re helping spread the message of conservation through our mobile game. I really like all the fun updates we’ve added, especially the mermaid pants.”

Kylie added:

“When Apple and Glu came to Kendall and I with the Apps for Earth opportunity I was really excited. WWF does some amazing work and it’s so cool that we get to be a part of that.”

100% of the proceeds raised from downloads of the Kendall and Kylie app– as well as the other 26 apps– and in-game purchases will benefit the WWF.

Let’s help Kylie and Kendall save the oceans!  You can download the app here.

The Jackson kids are celebrating adulthood!

Michael Jackson’s only daughter, Paris, recently turned 18 years old, and to celebrate, she, along with her brother Prince, 19, took this opportunity of new freedom to get permanent tributes to their dad on their bodies.

Paris took to her Instagram to show off her new ink on Tuesday, and the tattoo artist responsible for her tattoo as well as Prince’s ink, took to his Instagram account to show off Prince’s tribute.

Paris, who celebrated her monumental birthday on Sunday, had vowed years ago in an interview with E! News to get a tattoo with words that her father once wrote to her on her wrist when she was old enough, and that’s exactly what she did!

She had the words “Queen of My Heart” in a replica of Michael’s handwriting tattooed on the outside of her left wrist by tattoo artist Justin Lewis.

She captioned the Instagram message with a sweet message for her dad and his fans:

“‘Queen of My Heart’ in his handwriting. To everyone else he was the King of Pop. To me, well, he was the king of my heart.”

And, she didn’t stop with just one tattoo either!  She took to Instagram just one day later revealing her second tattoo, this time from artist Hillary Santagata: a piece honoring her grandmother, and Michael’s mother, Katherine Jackson.

She captioned the picture of her new, blue lotus flower tattoo:

“‘Kǎisèlín’ for Grandma Katherine, done by the ink goddess herself @thetattooprincess. Love you, G-Ma.

While Paris’s choices are obvious tributes to her grandmother and the King of Pop, Prince’s tattoo choice was a bit different.

Lewis shared a picture of Prince and his new tattoo on his Instagram account saying Prince is “an amazing man.”

E! Online writes of Prince’s new ink:

“Prince had an image of the ancient Egyptian deity Anubis—traditionally depicted as a man with a canine head—wielding a blood-drenched scythe tattooed on his upper right shoulder. While the connotation could instantly be interpreted as morbid, Anubis’ roles in different variations of mythology actually included a protector of graves and a god who ushered souls into the afterlife—a heroic figure who helped ease the transition between this life and the next.  So actually a powerful, hopeful image if you consider it in that context.”

E! Online also made the connection between the image of the Egyptian deity to Michael’s interests and beliefs:

Prince didn’t directly say, as Paris did, that his new tat was inspired by his father, but Michael Jackson was of course a very spiritual man—and he too was fascinated by Egyptian imagery, going full-fledged pharaoh chic in the video for his 1992 hit “Remember the Time.” So ultimately Prince Jackson is carrying on in his father’s footsteps when it comes to invoking mythological images that represent higher powers and otherworldly forces of strength in the universe.

While these two Michael Jackson tributes are very different, both of Michael’s kids chose an authentic way that resonated best with each of them as a way to honor their father.

And, it’s very clear Michael Jackson’s children are finding new ways to keep their connection to their dad very much alive.

Ivy Park vs. Lululemon?

Lululemon Athletica has been around since 1998 and has since become a very common and fashionable athletic clothing line for women.

Ivy Park is Beyoncé’s new line of activewear.

How are these two athletic clothing lines related?  The answer: Twitter drama.

Yesterday, Beyoncé announced the new line of activewear by creating a new Instagram account for the line and releasing a YouTube video describing the inspiration behind the line.

The announcement of the activewear line was immediately met with popularity and publicity.

One twitter user, however, used this new line of activewear as a means to compare it to the trusted Lululemon brand.

Lululemon responded to this question by tweeting:

“They do say imitation is the best form of flattery. Maybe Beyoncé is so Crazy in Love with our brand, she made her own.”

Lululemon’s tweet has since been deleted, but the seemingly harmless tweet was quickly thrown into the fire as Beyonce’s “beyhive” jumped to support the star’s new line and to question Lululemon’s intentions.

One twitter user made it clear the two lines would be nothing alike:

Another user questioned the actions being taken to punish the Lululemon employee who could have tweeted this:

And, another went so far as to insinuate the Twitter comment would be the downfall of the Lululemon brand:

Following the friction with Beyoncé’s fans, Lululemon took to their Twitter again to explain themselves and offer and apology.

The account tweeted directly to the users who had questioned their comment.

They repeatedly said things like “no harm meant” and acknowledged that the employees of Lululemon are big fans of Beyoncé as well.

They admit their comment was not intended to be harmful:

And, admitted to deleting the tweet after hearing the opposing views from many Twitter users:

Lululemon also said in a Twitter reply, “Everyone needs a little healthy competition,” insinuating they would welcome a new activewear line into the market:

A little healthy competition is exactly what both companies are going to get once Beyoncé’s line hits shelves on April 14.

Lululemon competes with Nike, Under Armour, Fabletics, and many other activewear brands already, and they all seem to be doing perfectly fine!  Which is most likely how they will all continue to do following the release of Beyoncé’s line.

The original comment from Lululemon was clearly not meant to offend anyone, and it was a pretty clever way to relate Beyoncé songs with their original opinions.  This situation just goes to show how intense fans’ loyalties are for Queen Bee

10 Years of Hannah Montana

The cast and fans of Hannah Montana celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the show’s premiere episode yesterday.

Miley Cyrus, Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso, and Jason Earles all took to social media yesterday to share sentiments on this celebratory occasion.

The most shocking posts came from, no surprise, Miley Cyrus– formerly known as Hannah Montana.

Cyrus is known to be a bit of a wild child now, and she admits Hannah Montana is no longer any part of who she is today, but that the blonde-wig wearing pop star will always have a special place in her heart.

On Cyrus’s Instagram, she posted a picture of her in a blonde wig, similar to the one she commonly wore on the set of Hannah Montana and wrote:

“Sending love to all my cast members on this anniversary …. To the world it’s a celebration of 10 years but for us the journey began way before the world had any clue who the fuck any of us are ….. There was a very long auditioning process, and many chemistry reads which really is what sold the show to the producers and channel because no matter what went on over the years (which none of you have any clue about but It was like the real world but more hormonal teenagers) our love for each other was unquestionable…. Even though I feel disconnected to who I was at that time I will always feel eternally grateful for the opportunity and platform I was given …. None of it would have been possible with out every single person who ever contributed to the series …. From regulars , to special guests (and there were many magical ones @dollyparton 💞) to creators, crew , directors….. I am where I am because of loyal fans that I am thankful for and of course love dearly all the new angels who support me now….. Even though HM is chopped up into little tiny pieces and buried in my backyard she will always hold a very special place in my heart! Celebrate this day with us! Get real drunk and remember #HM4EVR 👸🏼 send pics gettinnnnn buck wild in honor of this special day! ❤️❤️❤️ #letsplayadrinkinggame watch HM and every time someone says her name take a shot! Yiew hew!”

She went on to post multiple other videos and pictures on the 10-year anniversary:

She even made a joke about the infamous hairy armpits she has been seen with in recent months by sharing a throwback picture of an episode of Hannah Montana when she pretended to have hairy armpits:

She posted another picture that perfectly captures her old life and her new life.  It is a picture of her smoking with Hannah Montana on the TV in the background. Perfect way to celebrate for Cyrus’s current lifestyle!

Cyrus wasn’t the only cast member to jump on the bandwagon of sharing pictures to celebrate #10YearsofHannahMontana, a hashtag that erupted on Twitter.

Emily Osment, who played Lilly on the Disney Channel show, posted a picture to her Instagram as well.

Mitchel Musso, who played the male best friend Oliver, also posted to his Instagram thanking Cyrus and Osment for being additional family members:

And, last, but not least– big brother Jackson, played by Jason Earles, took to his Instagram to commemorate the anniversary.  He shared many throwback pictures from various episodes any Hannah Montana fan would recognize, but the best picture of all was the final one posted:

It was a bittersweet day for the cast and for their fans. Hannah Montana was a big part of many millennials’ young lives, and the passing of 10 years since it all began is kind of a big deal.

A lot can change in 10 years and a lot has changed for the cast of this iconic Disney series.

One thing is for sure though, the cast made it very clear yesterday Hannah Montana is a huge part of their lives, and it will continue to be a huge part of ours.  We can’t wait to see more throwback pictures for the 20-year anniversary!
